Supportive Housing - Group Home for women after after facing incarceration

Project Identification - Our project aims to support women aged 30-40 who are transitioning out of incarceration and experiencing homelessness. We seek to create a safe and comfortable home environment that addresses their unique challenges, including mental health issues and poverty. Our goal is to offer these women a supportive space where they can find new opportunities for stability and growth.

WPA has historically served thousands of women annually through its various programs. For example, in recent years, they have supported over 2,000 women through case management and support services.

Significant Increase: From 1980 to 2022, the incarceration rate for women in the United States has risen significantly. This increase is more pronounced compared to the rise in incarceration rates for men.

As of 2022, there are approximately 225,000 women incarcerated in the United States. This figure represents a substantial increase from around 12,000 in 1980.

The Women's Prison Association (WPA) is a nonprofit organization based in New York City, dedicated to helping women involved in the criminal justice system. Founded in 1845, it is one of the oldest organizations in the United States focused on addressing the unique needs of incarcerated women and their families.

Founded in 1845 in New York City, it is one of the oldest social service agencies in the United States focused on assisting women involved in the criminal justice system.
